Best setups for a 100 litre tank
23 February 2026
100 litres is about 26 US gallons — a size you’ll see a lot in UK and European shops. It’s big enough for real variety, small enough to keep maintenance manageable. Here’s what tends to work.
Community: Three schools plus bottom crew. Ten tetras, eight rasboras, eight corys, and a dwarf gourami or two. Or swap in cherry barbs, platies, rummynose — match your tap water. Our stocking calculator includes popular tank models so you can pick your exact size.
Centerpiece: One or two angelfish with ten to twelve tetras and eight corys. Angels need height; avoid very small nippable species. Or a pair of dwarf gouramis with a school and corys.
Dwarf cichlid: 100L is a good minimum for Apistogramma or German blue rams. A pair plus dither fish (e.g. rummynose tetras) and corys. Caves and hiding spots essential. Water hardness matters — research before you buy.
Plan before you stock. Use the calculator, read our 100 litre setups guide, and track your parameters once you’re up and running. App-aquatic helps with that.
