What Do Discus Eat?

Discus are omnivores with a moderate feeding speed, but competition can arise if tank mates are overly assertive. They benefit from a varied diet for optimal health and coloration, including high-quality pellets, frozen foods, and occasional live fare.

Discus Tank Mates

Ideal tank mates are similarly-sized, calm species that occupy different swimming levels, such as certain tetras or peaceful cichlids. Avoid aggressive or overly active fish that may stress or outcompete Discus during feeding. Intraspecies, they can be kept alone or in small groups, but larger groups can lead to pecking orders and stress if space is inadequate.
